Ms. McCluskey's artists were doing some painting and drawing in the MS Commons after school. They did some really great work!

Mr. Simeone's athletes were shooting hoops in the old gym on Thursday afternoon!

Weightlifting and Fitness Club
Mr. Ziff's athletes were in the weight room doing some workouts with weights, treadmills, the Nintendo Wii, and some Tai Chi on the mats!

Breakfast for New EGMS Students
Many thanks to Ms. Nelson and all of the teachers and staff that brought in breakfast items to celebrate the newest additions to our EGMS Student Community! It was a great way to recognize and celebrate the students who are new to our district this year.

Mr. Simeone's athletes went outside last week during Sports Club to play some football!

Gr 8 Mission Statements
In Ms. Rosenstein's Grade 8, students created their own mission statements through Stephen Covey's "7 Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers" model. We have some eighth graders ready to do some good in this world!

Jimothy - Gr 8's Mascot!
Has your child come home talking about Jimothy the raccoon? Jimothy is a unique raccoon who is different and amazing in his own way. His tail and body are unusually short and has a back that is curved, he is thought to have short spine syndrome. The real Jimothy lives in Seattle, Washington however the 8th grade math class has deemed Jimothy as their class mascot. Our amazing 8th graders are very passionate about him and anyone that disrespects or talks negatively they get upset and are sure to stand up for him. Students have collaborated to create Jimothy a home in our class along with a system to ensure each student gets an opportunity with Jimothy.

Match Day!
Some of our 7th graders decided to match up for the fun of it last week.

Grade 6 Math
Mr. Simeone's Grade 6 Math students were having fun with nets and surface area!

Grade 7 FACS
In Mrs. Corey's Family and Consumer Science (FACS) Grade 7 is close to being finished on their 8 piece pillow. They are hard at work.

Gr 7 Science: Two Labs in Mrs. Ciccarelli's class!
Elephant Toothpaste: Our 7th graders had a very fun time practicing all their lab safety skills they learned and putting them into action by following directions closely and making a SUPER HOT chemical reaction!!!
Pencil Rampers: As the 7th grade reviewed all about variables and proper lab set up with controls in mind, they collected data on how different angles affected a pencil rolling down a ramp.  They will then graph their data and analyze their results going through the full scientific process looking beyond just the variables in the experiment.

EGMS Sports Club
In Sports Club, Mr. Simeone's students were playing Handball and Basketball in the Small Gym after school!

EGMS -- Picture Day!
The EGMS Community had its picture day on Thursday, September 17! We figured it would be fun to take pictures of picture day, as students of all ages were ready for it!

Grade 6 Seminar -- ELA
In Ms. Marini's class, students created blackout poems using photocopied pages of real books. In order to create this style of poetry, they circled words they liked from the book page in order to create a new, original poem that borrows its words from the original source material. After, they crossed out/blacked out all the other words they didn't use and decorated their final poems with images to match.

7th Grade Social Studies
Students in Mrs. Petersen's Grade 7 Social Studies have begun their exploration into world geography and have been brushing up on their map skills. This week, students had a challenge to create a world map with only 2 pieces of paper, a glue stick, and a sharpie. It was a fun way to practice spatial awareness and perspective taking while creating maps.

Grade Six: Math!
Mr. Simeone's students were working hard and having fun today! In Math, students were doing a "Trashketball" review of finding the area of polygons. In Math Seminar, students were creating a poster proposal and budget for a Halloween party!

The Halls of EGMS

Sports Club
Mr. Simeone took the sports club both indoors and outdoors on Thursday. The athletes were playing touch football!
