Students have been working on learning the guitar! They've learned pitches on the first three strings as well as two simple versions of chords. Next week we'll begin the lower three strings of the guitar and try to get through all six strings by the end of the quarter.
Please enjoy the class performance of "Itsy Bitsy" by clicking the link below. The song used pitches from the first and second string along with the simple version of the C chord and G7 chord.

EGMS is ready for Soccer Under the Lights tonight!!! The players came out in full spirit to wish our high school some good luck in front of the East Granby community tonight. Coach Bunker was able to join us for a group picture today!
We had a fun night on October 7 at the EGMS Commons. Many thanks to the EGMS PTO and its parent volunteers for running a night full of candy, camaraderie, and bingo for our students!
In 8th grade Art with Mrs. Dugre, students created neon skeletons grid drawings with acrylic markers!

7th Grade MET CAD Students Bring Their Designs to Life with Tinkercad and 3D Printing
This quarter, our seventh-grade MET CAD students took on an exciting challenge that combined creativity, engineering, and technology. Each student designed their own maze using Tinkercad, an easy-to-use online 3D design platform, allowing them to explore the process of creating a 3D model from scratch.
Once the designs were finalized, the students were able to bring their ideas to life with the help of our 3D printers. The printed mazes were carefully constructed to include intricate paths and traps, testing both their design skills and their ability to think critically about how to create functional yet challenging obstacles.
To ensure the ball didn’t escape while navigating the maze, an acrylic top was added to their creations. This final touch not only added durability but also kept the ball inside, allowing the designs to function as intended.

In early October, Mr. Ziff's 6th Grade Leadership class completed an optional service project by sprucing up the memorial for former soccer coach Chris Pettee. A special shout out goes to Lyle, Adam, Jackson, James, Ben, Jack, Madelyn, Dina, Solimar, and Olivia for a job well done!

On September 20, EGMS Students joined the EGHS Band on Rentschler Field for play at the UConn football game with other school districts! It was an awesome experience for our students and fans in the stands. Many thanks to the chaperones who helped make this day successful!

In Mr. Ziff's Grade 7 PE Class, Naomi and Alice were declared the Quarter 1 Tennis Tournament champions!

In Dr. Schoorens' Life Skills class, students prepared fruit salad and yogurt parfaits for the New Student Breakfast. Later, our new students were welcomed to our community with the Life Skill students and our faculty and staff members serving the breakfast to them and their guests!

On Wednesday, September 24, Professional Juggler Jason Tardy visited EGMS to do an amazing display of juggling skills (and of what things can but shouldn't be done with a foldable extension ladder)! More importantly, Jason's positive message to our students was about what bullying actually looks like and how to either not do it or to stand up to it! Many thanks to East Granby Youth Services for putting this assembly together for our students!

In Mrs. Ciccarelli's 7th grade science class, students were able to write on the desks as they sorted cards that were all broken parts of our CERs. CERs are scientific conclusions with a claim, evidence and reasoning formatting.

In Mrs. Provencher's 8th Grade Math class, students were tasked with in-class competitions to engineer the longest chains by creating links with only using scissors, tape, and one 8.5x11 sheet of paper! Students were collaborating and communicating while using their critical and creative thinking skills to come up with some awesome solutions in this exercise.

In early September, Dr. Faulkner's 8th grade science students were working with Monarch Butterflies. Students were tasked with raising, tagging, and releasing these beautiful creatures for their amazing migration over thousands of miles south for the winter. The work was fun, and the weather was beautiful!

Welcome back! Students gathered in the EGHS Large Gym to start the school year on Wednesday, August 27. After a welcome back speech by Mr. Phelan, students followed their early release schedule to meet their teachers during periods 1-7. It was a day of introductions, social contracts, and some help with new routines and procedures.

On August 26, 2025, EGPS Faculty and Staff gathered to celebrate the start of the school year at Convocation 2025. We were honored to present one of our own, Shannon Provencher, as the EGPS 2025-2026 EGPS Teacher of the Year! We also had a couple of rising star 8th grade students, Veronica Goncalves and Morgan McKinney, welcome us back with some words of encouragement and some humor on their last day of summer!
The Lost Tribe visited EGMS on Friday, April 4. The students and faculty had a blast, and we all learned about the connections between African culture, music, and today's contemporary hip-hop.
